The Montessoridays™ Shut The Box Dice Game brings addition into a wooden tabletop challenge. Roll, look at the total and choose numbered tiles to flip down. The aim is to clear the available numbers, but each choice changes what remains for the next roll. A familiar arithmetic idea becomes a decision made during play.

For a first round, count the dice together and explore which open tiles can make that amount. Let your child point to a combination before flipping it. There may be more than one choice, which gives you something to discuss without asking them to rush towards a single expected response.
