Montessoridays™ Wooden Music Instruments · 6 Pieces

🥁 Six ways to join the song.

The Montessoridays™ Wooden Music Instruments set brings a tambourine, castanet, maraca, hand bell, bell stick and clapper into one percussion collection. Each piece offers a different movement and sound, giving a little musician several ways to take part.

Montessoridays™ Wooden Music Instruments · 6 Pieces — play and product details

👂 Shake, tap or click—then pause.

Introduce an instrument with a gentle demonstration and listen together. Let your child try before comparing it with another piece. A bell's ring and a clapper's sound have different qualities to notice, even without naming musical terms.

🖐️ Follow the hands behind the sound.

Some pieces call for shaking while others need a tapping or closing action. Show the intended use and keep the volume comfortable. The variety gives your child a reason to explore different controlled movements during the same play session.

🎶 Make a favourite song a shared performance.

Sing together and let one instrument accompany the tune. You can take turns, stop at a familiar point or trade a short rhythm. There is no need for everyone to keep a perfect beat before the music becomes enjoyable.

💛 Let the final note have a little space.

Suitable for ages three and up, the set contains small parts and is not for children under three. Supervise use and inspect the fittings regularly. After a short session, gather the six instruments together so your child can find the sound they loved when the next song begins.

Why Buy Montessori?

🎵 Sound differences are available to compare.

The six instruments produce varied percussion responses. Explore one instrument before bringing in another, then listen for the difference. Your child can choose which sound answers yours. A short family music moment gives taking turns an audible purpose, without needing a tune that anyone has to get right.

🖐️ Different actions serve different instruments.

Shaking and clicking give hands purposeful variety. A child can hear a short rhythm before trying their own.

🤝 Shared songs create room for turn-taking.

Each person can contribute part of the music. A single sound can be a satisfying first musical activity. Compare the action of a maraca with a clapper or another suitable piece from the set. Each sound has a movement behind it for the child to notice. Offer one at a time before combining instruments in a simple turn-taking rhythm.

Why Kids Love It?

🥁 They can choose an instrument.

Six pieces offer different sounds to try. Each instrument has a different way to join the song. They can try a new sound and decide which one belongs in their very own performance.

🔔 A bell adds a ringing moment.

The sound changes the feel of the song. Their instrument can accompany the singing.

💛 The family can become a little band.

Everyone can take a turn making a sound. Six different instruments give the song more than one possible sound. They can find a favourite to play, wait for your response and try another when they want the rhythm to have a different character.

A must have toy!

Al great toys that my 10 month old loves to play with. The clapper is the best. Only negative would be maraca seems like it might have too many beads in it. All are made of good quality and haven't broke yet!

The eggs are too quiet but the rest are fine

My son is in "Indoor Percussion" and he likes these instruments for this purpose, and just to play around with at home. The egg shakers are too quiet without shaking them in front of an amplified microphone, but the rest are loud enough as-is. These are high quality instruments and not just for little kids.

Meant For Kids, But Real Musical Instruments

These are exactly what they claim to be. Real musical instruments in the guise of toys. Will these make your preschooler the next Tito Puente? Probably not. Can you use them to teach basic rhythm, maybe even how to read a rhythm chart? For older kids, of course. Definitely.
These particular ones are nicely finished with no sharp edges or splinters. They make enough sound to be interesting without being noisy. The castanets have a little piece of dowel which prevents them from fully closing. They are also the finger type, not the concert (?) type with the handle. The egg shakers are really quiet, but to make them much louder they would have to be so thin that they would be about as delicate as real eggs. I don't know if the sticks could be called "claves." There may be a specific definition regarding the diameter or whatever. These are definitely as not ear-splitting as the traditional ones, and again, meant for the little ones.
But hey, these are even nice looking enough that you could use them with a "real" trap table setup for the pianissimo passages!

They sound good - pretty impressive for the price!

This review is for 12PCS Wood Hand Percussion Shakers Musical Percussion Instruments Set for Kids
This set is great for kids or even adult's casual use. For instance, they are fun in a drum circle with friends who may not have drums.
The clappers are extra loud with a clean sound, everything has a very smooth finish with no chance of splintering.
The egg-shakers are just a bit quieter than others of their kind but maintain a clear and consistent sound.
You may wish to wipe them down before using them, 2 pieces of the 12 arrived with a thin layer of dust on them, seemingly left over from the sanding process.
They really have a nice sound. We really like this set. They are easily stored in a basket.

Well-Made Set

This is a really nice, well-made set of wood shakers, sticks and castanets. The egg shakers are my favorite and are so smooth to the touch. They are tempting to set out in a bowl for display. All of the pieces are extremely smooth, very well finished. The seams on the eggs are almost undetectable. The castanets are well tied, not loose. The sticks are sticks but also high quality. I am very impressed with this and joked with my husband that he could turn all of the kids in the family into his casual band members with these.

Good quality basic instruments

I am homeschooling my three young children and trying to expose them to music. I got this set as it allows all of us to play at the same time. As for the castanets and egg shakers, we could all use one at the same time. The sticks we had to take turns though. I would have liked to have 4 more sticks so that each of us could have one castanet, one shaker, and two sticks. The quality of these are nice and they held up through our lesson. I like the neutral natural color of them as they look less like kid toys and therefore hopeful earn a little more respect as actual instruments from the kids. The kids found them easy to use. I gave them their own dedicated box as they didn't come with anything special and will pull them out for the kids to practice with from time to time. Happy with this product, but a few more rhythm sticks would have been great.

Practical for any musician

This is a nice practical set of percussion instruments. All pieces are smooth and have a nice finish with no rough spots or flaws. This kit is perfect to use for groups or to keep in the home studio. The multiples of each design give you some percussive options (like using several shakers at once) for a good price. I’m happy with the quality of the pieces and feel they will hold up with play.

Nice sound

These are very well made. My favorite pieces are the egg shaped shakers. They sound amazing and are perfect to use when my son is recording music in his studio. The clam shaped clickers (not sure what you actually them) are ok. They don’t sound that great when using just one but when you have two of them going at the same time, they give off a nice sound. But they were all very smoothly sanded and easy to hold onto. I would recommend them.

Well made, and with nice sound.

This is a great percussion set for young (or old) musicians, and/or fidgeters. I have two daughters, ages 6, and 4. So each gets a pair rhythm sticks(like Claves without the grooves/cutaway), castanets, and egg shakers.
All have a nice tone, not too loud, but not too "toy" sounding. Crisp, not shrill. There is no reason these could not be used for serious/professional music, as well as for play. The wood looks nice. The finish is excellent: Smooth, preventing splinters/cuts, and pleasant to hold, without being slippery. a great balance for the purpose.
The castanets have a smart elastic cord providing the spring, and are designed to leave a pocket open when snapped together, making boosting their volume and tone.
The egg shakers are on the softer side. volume wise, which I don't mind at all. The are certainly audible enough for home use, though they'd most likely want to be mic'd in a live setting.
Definitely recommended as a supplement for your young musician's instrument collection, or on their own. And as I said, these are good enough for adults/professionals as well. Great for jam sessions and sing-alongs!

OK set....

My 10 month old son takes a music class once a week and LOVES to play with similar instruments there so I wanted to get some for home. This set if just ok and I have outlined below why:
- Wood is super smooth and I have no concerns about my son getting hurt in any way
- Castanets are the best part. They make the most noise and are lightweight. They are held together by red elastic. Not sure about longevity there
- Egg shakers don't make a ton of noise. They seem to be really full so the stuff inside doesn't have anywhere to go
- Wood sticks are pretty substantial and if he accidentally knocked himself in the head, it would probably hurt!! He is starting to learn to hit them together, so these may get better as he figures them out a bit more.
Overall, these are just ok. My son will have a good time with them but I think he likes the ones at music class a bit better!

Smooth finish

Love that these don't have a paint finish as my son still sticks everything in his mouth. They are beautiful. Smooth finish, no ruff edges and great sound. The kids are in a music class so now they have more of their own instruments and don't have to borrow them.
And since we have had virtual classes these have really worked nicely!
Definitely a good value for little musicians!

Great intro set

Exactly as pictured - smooth, soft wood with rounded edges. The sticks are not ridged and are shorter than usual, but that's great for the smallest hands.
The castanets have a nice, bright sound. The shakers could be a little louder but do sound great.
Excellent set if you want a small, natural instrument set to play.

Not just for kids!

As a long time drummer and percussionist, I’m always looking for new and unusual instruments to add to my bag of tricks. While I can definitely see the value of this product as one way of getting children into music and also improving eye/hand coordination, these certainly aren’t only for kids. They’re a welcome addition to my collection, which can be used during both live performances and in the studio.
Workmanship is excellent, as are the materials. The wood surfaces of all components are finely sanded, and as smooth as glass.
As for sound, they’re crisp and surprisingly loud, which in my opinion is a good thing! I obviously have to mic them, but not very closely. They’re great for Latin-style music, but have many other percussion applications as well.
The design of the castanets is especially good. One very nice touch is a peg installed on the inside rim, which gives them room to “breathe” and open/close easily. Assisting this, their elastic cord is thick and strong.
Overall, I’d recommend this set to anyone, from children to professional musicians. In effect you’re getting two sets, since 4 of each instrument is supplied. Considering that along with their high quality and modest asking price, you can’t beat them (or actually you should, pardon the pun)!

"We're in a band!" Smooth, natural musical instruments

This is the perfect set for a family band. "We're in a band!" The instruments are wonderfully sized for both toddler and adult hands. The entire set is smooth with no rough edges. The rhythm sticks are even curved around the tops! They make such wonderful sounds. Even our 16 month old was able to clank the castanets. This is lovely addition to our household. I particularly like the wooden/natural look of the musical instruments.
