Montessoridays™ Sticks & Rings Pattern Builder

⭕ A line, a curve—and suddenly, an idea.

The Montessoridays™ Sticks & Rings Pattern Builder gives children 120 wooden sticks and rings for making pictures, patterns and letter-like forms. Twenty double-sided guide cards offer forty reference designs, while the same simple pieces leave room for a child's own arrangements.

Montessoridays™ Sticks & Rings Pattern Builder — play and product details

👀 Find the parts inside the picture.

Choose a simple card and look for a straight section or a curved one. Offer a small selection of pieces and let your child compare lengths and forms. Building one part of the design first can make a busy picture feel more manageable.

Montessoridays™ Sticks & Rings Pattern Builder — play and product details

🖐️ A small movement can complete the shape.

Place a stick, turn a ring or close a gap between pieces. The loose components let your child adjust the arrangement as often as needed. Leave the card visible so checking the design is something they can do themselves.

🎨 What else could these pieces become?

After following a guide, try clearing the space for an original pattern. Lines and curves might suggest a face, a familiar symbol or a new invention. Ask about the creation without requiring it to resemble a particular adult example.

🧺 Keep the next invitation organised.

The set includes a wooden base, storage pouch and gift box alongside the cards and pieces. Intended for ages three and up, it needs supervised use with the small components. Start with a comfortable challenge, enjoy the finished arrangement and sort the pieces together when the design is ready to become a memory.

Why Buy Montessori?

⭕ Curves and lines become building materials.

Children can explore how simple forms combine into a design. Try making a familiar shape and ask which parts could form its edges. The loose sticks and rings make the idea visible on the surface. Changing a piece gives a way to compare two designs, with the child choosing what to try next.

👀 Looking closely supports the next choice.

The guide provides a reference for position and shape. Loose pieces can be repositioned without starting over.

🌱 A smaller pattern offers an accessible beginning.

The cards allow a gradual choice of challenge. Children can copy a design or create an arrangement of their own. Look for a straight section and a curved section in the chosen design. Selecting a stick or ring connects that observation with a placement. The child can then compare the emerging outline with the card or explain how they want their own version to differ.

Why Kids Love It?

⭕ Rings and sticks can make surprising pictures.

Simple parts can become something recognisable. A few simple pieces can become a house, a face, or a pattern no one has seen before. Their next idea can change the arrangement straight away.

🖐️ The design can change with one move.

A new position suggests another possibility. There is a starting idea when they want one.

💛 Their own pattern can take centre stage.

Invite them to explain what they made. A ring can suggest a wheel and a stick can become part of a house. The pieces stay simple while the ideas change, letting children move from a supplied picture to a little scene they invent.

Creativity

These creative sticks really do encourage my littles creativity. I’m am surprised by the things he creates. Much easier than drawing this is just shape manipulation. Easy to clean up and fun to pull out.

Classroom Use

I am using this in my classroom for my students to build their letters. It it is a great hands on tool that touches on the visual and tactile learners to succeed. The kids that love to build also enjoy this activity to create their own designs.

nice assortment, good colors

These are nicely made, smooth and have nice colors. They are lightweight and easy to handle. They will inspire my grandson to create with his own brain. We have played a bit before giving them to him as a gift and the adults had a blast. I think it challenges his brain and makes him think outside the box. Great gift.

Fun learning resource

This is such a fun learning resource. This is great for so many different learning activities and can also be just for play time. My 4 year old likes it much more than i thought she would. I really like that it comes with a stand to hold up the cards. The pieces are all made our of wood. This set is easy for her to use on her own when she is having an independent day which is more often than not now days. I highly recommend it. This is also perfect for a calm down corner activity.

Fun and engaging toy!

My kiddo loved this! It was a bit too tricky, even with help, for my 3 year old. But it’s great for developing fine and visual motor coordination skills!

Great

This is a great game for kids or adults that teaches concentration as they have to focus to find the correct size and color pieces to create the picture. The cards are given a star rating based on difficulty which is helpful. There are no one star cards - the easiest level is two stars. You can use the picture to help determine whether your person is ready for these cards.

Small but sturdy

I got this set to use with my kindergarten class to teach the shapes and formation of letters. I thought it came with a set of cards that showed how to make each letter of the alphabet using the pieces, however, the cards that came with it only included a few letters. The other cards showed different creative designs and pictures you can make with the pieces. While the design cards are nice and the kids did enjoy trying to make different things using the cards, I was definitely disappointed that it wasn't a whole set of letters and I had to substitute my own letter cards.
Other than that, this is a nice, albeit small, set. The pieces are made of wood and I'm haply to say they seem pretty solid. I was worried they would break easily, but that hasn't been the case. The set comes with several different sizes of straight and curved line pieces. This is a great fine motor activity and great for getting kids to think in terms of what kinds of lines are used to create different shapes, letters, numbers and objects. This helps them to visualize and better write or draw.

Fun Learning Toy

I like the concept of this toy. Creating with the sticks and rings is great for those little hands and minds. Some of the pictures may be a little tricky for some kids who need everything just perfect but overall a good learning tool for your little learners.

Wish the pieces were a little sturdier.

Montessori Matching Puzzle toys sticks and rings puzzle is a fun and educational activity. My students use a sticky mat underneath so the pieces stay in place. You can match the shapes using the pattern cards or use your creativity to make your own designs. The Montessori approach promotes problem solving, critical thinking and fine motor skills. Unfortunately, these pieces do not appear all that sturdy and I can see them easily breaking. I also wish there were more alphabet letter cards which would expand the versatility of the toy. I tell my students that all upper case letters are formed using long and short lines and long and short curves put together. This would have been a great way to teach the letters formations before using a pencil and paper.

Entertaining and educational

This is a great learning toy - made of wood, lightweight with soft surface -my 3 year old granddaughter loves playing with it - it is great for children’s creativity and imagination, and helps with their eye hand coordination as well - it comes with a pouch, and some pattern suggestion cards with different difficulty levels. Even I love to play with it. The parts are small and it’s best if smaller kids be supervised around
them. Great fun toy.

Great creative toy

My soon to be 4 year old loves this toy. He prefers to create his own images as opposed to using the idea cards, but I found the cards helpful and fun pictures to create. There are plenty of pieces for 2 people to create at the same time. The set came with a nice fabric bag for storing the wooden pieces, which I thought was a nice touch. The pieces are on the smaller side, so I wouldn’t keep them out around babies or toddlers, but it’s a great preschool toy.

Allows for hours of entertainment, great problem solving exercise

This was a popular addition to my kindergarten classroom literacy lab. I'm considering another set as this toy is the first choice for most of my students. They practice building letters and then are excited to challenge themselves to construct other figures. They pieces are durable and bright and came in useful carrying bag.

Great for small motor hand skills

I love having all different toys for the resident 5 year old here. This is something that I have not seen before and I was intrigued. It comes with different cards for different skill levels and then you place a card in the wooden slot and create the picture. Or your child can free play and create what they wish.
I really enjoyed trying this out from an adult perspective. One thing I noticed was doing it on the wood table or the Formica countertop was somewhat hard as the colorful wood pieces are very light weight and tend to slide around on the slick surface. So I tried it out on a silicone arts and crafts mat and that was much easier. Our 5 year old has a hard time sitting still and is working on fine motor skills and I want this to not be frustrating, but rather, a fun and creative time.
I imagine that in Free Play, we are going to see mostly cars and trucks which is just fine. My goal in getting this is for:
Fun and creativity
Working on fine motor skills
Learning to follow directions
Learning to sit still for a project
Working on patience and finishing a short term project
Coming up with original ideas
Playing with something that is without a screen or batteries
I would purchase this again and love that it is something really different!

Great classroom resource

This is a great classroom resource my students love using these sticks to make different things. Very easy for the kids to use and easy for me to clean them definitely a must have in an elementary classroom.

Fun for the young and the old!

I couldn't wait to try out this puzzle. All those little pieces can make so many things! The card suggestions are just the start. A four year old can move the pieces into place. A silicone mat or a piece of felt will help keep them from sliding around. As your child manipulates the pieces, you can talk about what he is making, how his fingers are moving - squeezing, pushing, stacking, joining. You can talk about how he sees colors, chooses colors that match, chooses shapes (longer or shorter, rounded, straight, etc.) So many ways to learn using this puzzle. And if you don't have time to set down with him, he can still learn by himself, using his imagination. There doesn't have to be a right or wrong to it.

Super fun

My 4 year old daughter has been having a blast with these. I love the creativity and the tactile learning. My daughter follows the cards and also makes up her own images. We challenge ourselves to make letters and numbers that aren’t on the cards as well. These have been a wonderful independent play activity. The reason I took one star away was that one of the pieces quickly broke. On top of that some of the cards are inaccurate and can not be reproduced with the pieces shown.

Fun and Learning all in one

I got these so I could work with my grandson, teaching and having fun at the same time.
This isn't necessarily something that you just hands a child and expect them to understand, but rather you work with them. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much interest their little minds have in learning and growing.
I highly recommend this set

Kids enjoy it

Let’s be honest, kids and adults in my classroom are enjoying this set. It combines shapes, spatial awareness, and creativity. And because you can build letters with these pieces, it also includes some alphabet awareness. My only concern is that some of the pieces are small and/or thin, so I’m hoping they don’t get lost or broken with my kindergartners.

Fun alphabet and problem solving

This is great Montessori style for teaching letters to children. It also helps with problem solving, pattern recognition and following instructions. It comes with a bag, some pattern cards, a stand for the cards and the wooden pieces. I wish there were 3 lengths of the straight stick as just the short and long make for some strange formations of letters but I'm happy with it nonetheless.

Love that it has letters and pictures!

I really like that this set includes cards for both fun pictures as well as letters of the alphabet. I think this will be a great learning and fine motor activity for all of our kids who span from toddler age to lower elementary. While I love wooden toys for kids, I am a little worried about how thin these pieces are; I don't know why, but when I saw the listing for these I expected the pieces to be considerably bigger and in turn thicker than what they really are. I just worry that they could easily be snapped by a heavy-handed child even by accident. Other than that, I think this is a really great resource for early learners.

Nice creative manipulative, could use some slight improvements

I love the bright colors and shapes that can be made with these sticks and curves. I was under the impression that there were all alphabet cards included to be used as a a learning toy. The only alphabet cards that come with it are shown. With a little more time and care the sticks and curves could be made so that each uppercase letter is the same height when built or at least more close in scale and proportion. Also there are no dots to dot the i or j. If you are using this as a creative play you you will love using it. If you are using this to help someone learn how to build the shape of a letter you may be a bit disappointed.

Great for creativity

The set comes with several wooden pieces, 20 double-sided cards (for a total of 40 letters/pictures), and a wooden stand to place a card in. The cards are given difficulty levels. It is fun way for kids to learn to follow patterns and be creative and build their own creations. It is fun for older kids and adults, too! My only disappointment is that there are only cards for 4 letters (Aa, Bb, Gg, and Hh), and I was hoping there would be cards for all 26 letters, but I can make cards for the other letters. Our 6 year old enjoys making his own designs.
