Montessoridays™ High Five Finger Counting Math Board

🖐️ Little fingers. Big “I did it!” moments.

What does two plus three look like? With the Montessoridays™ High Five Finger Counting Math Board, your child can raise two fingers on one felt hand, three on the other, and count them together. Numbers become something they can touch, move, and explore—an inviting way to bring early math into everyday play.

Finger counting math board with two felt hands, number blocks and activity cards

🔢 See the number. Make the quantity.

Start with a number your child knows. Choose its block, say the number together, and lift that many fingers. The two colorful hands offer ten fingers to count, while the number blocks help connect a written numeral with an amount your child can see. Begin with one hand, then bring in the second when they are ready.

➕ Turn a small sum into a hands-on discovery.

Line up 2 + 3 on the wooden ledge, show two and three with the felt fingers, and count all five. For subtraction, raise four fingers, fold three down, and see what remains. Moving the pieces gives your child a way to work through an idea and count again, without needing to rush to an answer.

Three steps showing how to arrange 2 plus 3, adjust the felt fingers and find 5

🎴 A starting idea, with room to try their own.

Use an activity card to begin a little challenge, or let your child choose the numbers. Folding fingers and arranging blocks keep their hands involved as they explore. The board stands upright to make the hands and number line easy to see during shared tabletop play.

💛 A little math moment you can share.

Try “Can you show me three?” before introducing a full equation. Take turns making a number for the other person to count, or ask your child to show you how they found an answer. Follow their interest and pause when they have had enough. A few playful discoveries can be a lovely part of an ordinary afternoon.

Why Buy Montessori?

🔢 Give number symbols something real to represent.

A written 5 can be paired with five raised fingers your child can touch and count. This concrete starting point connects number words, symbols, and quantities in the same activity. Begin with familiar numbers and add a new challenge when your child shows interest.

🖐️ Let their hands take part in the thinking.

Folding a felt finger and placing a number block are small, purposeful movements. Each action changes the amount or equation in front of them, giving your child something visible to discuss, check, and try again.

🌱 Start small and build at their pace.

The same board can begin with showing one, two, or three fingers and later become a place for simple addition and subtraction. Offer one manageable idea, then let your child move the pieces. There is no need to work through every card in one sitting.

💛 Make room for shared discovery.

Sit beside your child and ask, “How many are still standing?” Counting together gives you a way to hear their thinking and offer help when needed. This Montessori-inspired activity brings concrete materials and active participation into an everyday moment of screen-free play.

Why Kids Love It?

🖐️ The fingers move when they move them.

Lift a finger, fold it down, and change the number on the board. The soft felt hands make counting an action children can repeat and explore for themselves.

🌈 Colorful pieces they get to choose.

Pick a number block, place it on the ledge, and make a matching hand. Choosing and arranging the pieces gives your child an active role in each little challenge.

🔄 Another try is just a finger away.

If the count does not match, unfold a finger or count again together. The pieces can be rearranged for a fresh attempt, with room to slow down and work it out.

🎉 “Let me show you!”

Take turns making a number for each other to find. Once your child has counted the fingers, invite them to explain their answer or set you a challenge. The discovery becomes something they can share.

Great educational toy for kids!
The wooden pieces don't have any splinters, everything is smooth and nice.
The Velcro works well. The toy is very colorful.
The toy is durable. Easy to use and assemble.
My 3-year-old daughter loves to play with it. And I love it too, because it's not just fun toy, but also teaches visibly how math works.
Also, the size is perfect.
Absolutely great value for the money.
Truly recommend it!

Almost perfect

I love the concept of this. It takes math and allows the child to visualize the numbers in multiple ways. It’s also nice to have the blocks to make your own problems as well as the pre set cards.
However, if I were to make a recommendation based on my experience to someone looking to buy something like this, I would say they should look for the following.
- a place to store the cards and blocks. These get really messy since there isn’t a place to put them. It would have been easy to design this will some storage on the back. I would have loved to see that.
- something that stays together. This is easily put together, but it also falls apart all the time! I would have preferred one that is secured together.
- a dry erase feature. The blocks are fine, but it would be great to be able to use dry erase with this.

Good math visualization learning tool.

I really like this math visualization learning tool. Toddlers are often taught at a young age to use their fingers to count so it will be natural for them to look at these hands and see them as a way to count and figure out math problems. The wooden board is lightweight, goes together and comes apart easily, has 2 hands with Velcro that are attached and swivel, and once put together, provides a little shelf for the blocks to rest on. There are 13 double sided blocks, 10 double sided cards, five 5 for addition and 5 for subtraction. (You can look at my provided pictures and see exactly what’s included.). The one con for me is that there should be more cards included with this set, 10 isn’t enough, otherwise I really like it. 4 stars.

Nice Learning Tool

I got this for my Pre-K classroom math center. They cannot add and subtract right now. But they can use this for counting to 10 and match the fingers with the numbers for now. We’ll move into adding before the end of the year.
I think this has good educational value and it’s easy for them to use. It’s made well. Everything looks nice and it’s a good price too! I’ll buy one to go with this one so we can go up to the number 20.

Great for starting to learn early!

This is a great visual math tool for little learners. We recently introduced this tool to my 2 1/2 year old and she loves matching the amount of fingers with her fingers. Velcro works & I like that you have the option to lay it flat or stand it up! Highly recommend for little math scholars!

Simple, effective design

Montessori learning games are simple designs with lots of learning. This one fits the mold.
(Pic 1) Out of the box. The hands face downward to fit in the box - Easy to twist up into place for use. Keep the box - it's sturdy and good for storing.
(Pic 2) Set up to use.
The fingers move easily, attach to the center circle. Easily detached.
There are ten cardboard cards, double faced with equations for a total of 20 equations.
There are 13 wooden tiles, double faced - 2 devoted to signs - +, - ,>, =. 11 devoted to numbers 0 thru10.
Note that all of the cards are + and - prompts. That leaves the greater and lesser than (>, <) equations to be taught without cards.
The gig is this ... start with a card. Your child will see the equation and the correct position of the fingers. Have her emulate the equation with the tiles and then match the finger positions. Then you get to teach her the math!
After a while, stop using the cards. Parent puts tiles on the shelf, and the child positions the fingers and solves the equation. Finally, the parent is verbal only.
Finally, although the set does not have a multiplication or division tile, and that may be a bit advanced depending on how you want to teach, the number tiles will support it (division, obviously, with a whole-number quotient).
Overall, well-made, great teaching tool.

Fun for learning

The only thing I don’t like is the stand is not very sturdy. Kept falling over. But I hot glued it and now it’s perfect!!!

Material for fingers is cheesy but it will work for the short term with grandchildren. As a teacher do not order for school use.

The hands will get pulled off so be careful with that.

It's a very cute learning tool. The kids love it. Perfect for the price. Easy to use. And I feel like as long as you don't let the kids tug too much on the hands it should last awhile.
