Montessoridays™ Wooden Shape Sorting Cube
🔷 A shape in the hand. A matching place to discover.
The Montessoridays™ Wooden Shape Sorting Cube pairs twelve wooden shapes with a cube of corresponding openings. Your child can look at an outline, choose a piece and explore how its direction changes the fit.
🖐️ Begin with a small selection.
Offer two or three shapes and turn the cube to an accessible opening. Show one slow placement, then let your child make the next choice. A limited set keeps the first matching task easy to understand.
👀 Compare the edges before trying again.
If a piece does not pass through, look at its corners and the opening together. A rotation may help, or another shape may be needed. The physical fit offers feedback without requiring a spoken answer.
🎨 Give the discoveries simple words.
Name a colour or shape when it fits what the child is already doing. They can match an outline before knowing its formal name. Keep the play centred on looking and handling, with vocabulary joining naturally.
💛 Empty, gather and begin another round.
The wooden set is intended for ages three and up and includes twelve removable shapes. Follow the cube's supplied directions for retrieving them, supervise play and inspect the components regularly. A completed sorting session can end with the pieces together, ready for another small search for the right fit.

I got this for a baby shower gift. Of course right now the baby is not born and will be too small for a while but the toy is a nice wooden block set which you don't normally see. I prefer wood over plastic. It has bright colors and the perfect size once the child gets to be about one or two to learn hand, eye, coordination skills.
